Tools/Vial planner
Peptide vial
planner
Turns a vial size, a dose from the literature and a schedule into doses per vial, days per vial and cost per dose in CAD, so a research supply can be budgeted before it is ordered. Pick a catalogue product to prefill the vial size and price, or enter a custom vial. This is an educational tool for the arithmetic; it does not say what the dose or schedule should be.
Enter the dose your protocol specifies; the planner does not suggest one.
28 days is a common rule of thumb for multi-dose vials reconstituted with bacteriostatic water and kept at 2–8 °C. The storage notes on the product page govern.

This tool does budgeting arithmetic only. It does not recommend compounds, doses or schedules; those come from your research protocol.
Step 01
Doses per vial
Vial contents (mg) × 1,000 ÷ dose (mcg), rounded down. A 5 mg vial holds 5,000 mcg; at 250 mcg per dose that is 20 doses.
Step 02
Days per vial
Doses per vial ÷ doses per day. 20 doses used once daily last 20 days; the same 20 doses used once weekly would last 140 days, but only the doses drawn within the reconstituted shelf life count as usable.
Step 03
Cost per dose
Vial price ÷ doses per vial. The expiry-adjusted figure divides the price by usable doses instead, so a vial that expires half-used shows twice the cost per dose actually drawn.
Worked examples
Each row assumes a 28-day reconstituted shelf life. The doses and schedules are illustrative inputs for the arithmetic, not suggestions.
| Vial and schedule | Doses per vial | Vial lasts | Usable in 28 days | Vials per 28 days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 mg vial, 250 mcg daily | 20 | 20 days (2.9 wk) | 20 | 1.4 |
| 10 mg vial, 100 mcg once weekly | 100 | 700 days (100 wk) | 4 of 100 | 1 |
| 2 mg vial, 500 mcg daily | 4 | 4 days | 4 | 7 |
| 20 mg vial, 2 mg once weekly | 10 | 70 days (10 wk) | 4 of 10 | 1 |
Frequently asked questions
How many doses are in a 5 mg peptide vial?
Divide the vial contents by the dose, in matching units. A 5 mg vial holds 5,000 mcg, so at a 250 mcg dose it yields 20 doses, at 500 mcg it yields 10, and at 1 mg (1,000 mcg) it yields 5. The planner does this division for you and rounds down to whole doses, since a partial draw at the end of a vial is rarely usable.
How long does a reconstituted peptide vial last?
Two clocks run at once. The arithmetic clock is doses per vial divided by doses per day: a 20-dose vial used once daily lasts 20 days. The stability clock is the reconstituted shelf life: multi-dose vials of bacteriostatic-water solutions are commonly treated as usable for about 28 days at 2–8 °C, though this varies by compound and the storage notes on the product page govern. A vial only lasts as long as the shorter of the two.
How do I calculate cost per dose?
Vial price divided by doses per vial. A $60 vial that yields 20 doses costs $3.00 per dose. The planner also reports an effective cost per dose, which divides the price by the doses you can actually use before the reconstituted shelf life ends, and scales that up to a cost per week and per 28 days.
What happens if some doses would expire before I use them?
